Soroptimist International of Suburban Essex County, NJ

The Best For Women and the Best of Women
The name "Soroptimist" is a coined word derived from the Latin word 'Soro' meaning
"Sister" and 'Optima' meaning "Best", and has been freely translated to mean,
"The Best For Women and the Best of Women.."
The first Soroptimist club was founded in 1921 in Alameda County, California and has since grown into a worldwide organization of approximately 100,000 members in more than 115 countries. Soroptimist is defined as "a worldwide organization of women in management and the professions, working together through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women".
S/I of Suburban Essex has been serving the communities of Essex County since 1949. The club draws its members from many towns in the county, as well as from surrounding areas. A variety of professions are represented, giving the club a strong base of talented women. And we can always use more!
